"And then she was no longer the school girl with her plush hat, her merino dress, here shapeless shoes, and her red hands; taste had come to her with beauty. She was a woman well dressed with a sort of simple and rich elegance without any particular style. She wore a dress of black damask, a mantle of the same, and a white crepe hat. Her white gloves showed the delicacy of her hand which played with the Chinese ivory handle of her parasol and her silk boot betrayed the smallness of her foot. When you passed near her, her whole toilet exhale the penetrating fragrance of youth."
- Les Miserables by Victor Marie Hugo (191)
This quote struck me as a great literary description of a well dressed woman. The character being described is Cosette, the adopted daughter of the elder Jean Valjean. The class that she seems to behold is incredible, and something one can only wish that one day they can obtain.
Well, tomorrow will bring another post, however I found this quote too inspiring to deliver at a later date.
